Tekke Chuval
second half 19th century, 78 x 132 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan
The field design of six primary guls and twelve straight-armed crosses decorated with stars, all of them overlaid by the border except for two guls at the centre, derives from Salor models. The densely patterned border section and the elem studded with small flowers are unmistakeable Tekke features.
Condition
Pile in good condition. The ruby silk is partially corroded. The upper right corner has been restored. No kilim back.
