Temple Lamps (2) - Lacquer, Wood - A pair of red lacquered classical standing temple lamps - Chrysanthemum shaped - Japan - Shōwa period (1926-1989)

Set of two red lacquered standing classical temple lamps. The feet are kiku 菊 (chrysanthemum) shaped. The top and bottom of the fluted columns are decorated by gold coloured hardware. Both lamps are topped by removable seven-sided spherical shaped lampshades. The shades are covered with ivory coloured washi paper. The shades only have a few discoloured specks on the paper, and there is one very small chip of lacquer visible (see photo's) . On one foot there is also a small lacquer chip. The lamps are fitted with E27-fittings, and attached with Europlugs (Schuko) . Lamp bulbs are excluded. The pair are in a good condition. These kinds of lamps are relatively difficult to find, especially as a set.
