signed Henri Matisse, dated 2/42, dedicated Pour le musée du Montparnasse and inscribed O 14 (lower left)
black crayon on paper
52.5 by 40.5cm., 20¾ by 15⅞in.
Framed: 84 by 71cm., 33 by 28in.
Executed in February 1941.

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Georges Matisse who will issue a certificate to the buyer on request.

Condition Report:
Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down, taped to the overmount along the upper edge and at the centre of the lower edge. The sheet is slightly time-stained, there are a few extremely minor spots of foxing and a few faint handling creases in places. There are artist's pinholes at the upper two corners and a small area of white chalk towards the centre of the upper edge, most likely a studio stain. There are tape remnants running along all four edges of the verso. This work is in overall very good condition.

Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.
