Texaco Marfak Lubrication Sign
Made in Canada. 1932 - 1959. Single-sided porcelain (SSP). Marfak was Texaco's high-performance automobile chassis grease. The early Texaco Company had a corporate tradition of naming its premium products after stars to match its famous red star logo. The name comes from Mirfak (also spelled Marfak), the brightest star in the constellation Perseus. In the night sky, Mirfak marks the elbow of the hero Perseus (it's also where the phrase "elbow grease" comes from). Marked, "P & M ORILLIA" lower right. 36" x 60". Authenticated by The Authentication Company (TAC #402818). All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. From the Barry Yorgason Collection.
