Thai Sawankhalok Ram Spouted Pottery Pitcher, ex-Museum
Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, ca. 15th century CE. A wonderful pottery pitcher glazed a verdant shade of light green. Boasting a lustrous burnish, the elegant vessel presents a spherical body, a slender neck, and a thick, flared rim, all sitting upon a ring-form foot. A trifurcated handle loops upwards on the shoulder of the vessel, spiraling into itself, while a zoomorphic spout with a pair of volute embellishments resembling ram horns protrudes from the opposite side. Size: 7.625" in diameter x 7.125" H (19.4 cm x 18.1 cm)
Provenance: ex Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
