The Art Book of Hand Marbled Papers

[ translate ]

Heading:
Author: Harris, James H.
Title: The Art Book of Hand Marbled Papers
Place Published: New York
Publisher:
Date Published: [c.1990's]
Description:

Comprised of 94 pp. of oil-marbled paint on heavy black paper. Explanatory text on two labels affixed to pastedowns. 15¼x15¾", marbled boards.

Spectacular edition of hand-marbled papers produced by James H. Harris. As he notes in the introduction, "it is a unique, one-of-a-kind edition limited to only this single book...every painted page is different / there is not another book like this in the entire world." Harris did the marbling at his home in India, he notes that each book took two months to produce and that the prototype took a full year; the materials are all handmade. A wonderfully achievement. It is unlikely that Harris finished his intended run of 750 copies, the book seems considerably more rare, and at two months per copy he would have needed quite a bit of assistance.
Condition Report: Wear, staining, and chips to covers and spine; large ink stain on one cover and one joint starting; overall very good.
