First edition of the first history of Virginia by a native Virginian. The plates are after De Bry, and depict early Indians.
On page 37 Beverley notes the arrival of the first enslaved Africans to America: "In August following a Dutch Man of War landed Twenty Negroes for Sale; which were the First of that kind that were carried into the Country."
