This film was directed by Roy William Neill, and is vaguely based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's short story 'The Five Orange Pips'. In this film Sherlock Holmes investigates a spate of deaths at a castle, where each death is predicted by the delivery of orange pips to the victims. This was the tenth film featuring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
