Description: The badge awarded by the Imperial Order of Franz Joseph, made of 18k+ gold and gorgeous red enamel, featuring the order’s motto VIRIBUS UNITUS. The hinged Crown at the top still has the original hinge ring which bears two hallmarks, please see photos. This piece was awarded as an Order of Merit to an individual in recognition of military or civil merit. The gold tests under x-ray as 18k or more.

Condition:Excellent; gold shows extremely minor wear and no toning. All letters of motto are intact and in place. Hinged crown is secure, yet still exhibits the designed amount of movement and has retained its original hinge ring. All enamel in place. Delicate features such as the cross on top of the crown, the eagles feet, and the chain encircling the cross are all intact, and in original alignment.
