Only 50 numbered sets of this edition of the Life and Works of Lord Alfred Tennyson have been made for England and America, of which this is Copy N0. 18. BINDING: 14 volumes, complete. All bound in 3/4 brown leather with raised ribs on the spines as well as gold lettering and gold leaf decoration. Marbled boards and end papers and green ribbon markers attached to each volume. Top end pages are gilt. Each volume has an Eli Whitney Bookplate inside the front cover. DUST JACKET: None as issued. BOOK CONDITION: Vol VIII shows some scuffing at the top of the spine and vol X has a 1/8" tear at the top rear spine egde otherwise the set is in near fine condition with just the slightest bit of wear to the remaining volumes. The bindings are tight and the books are all very clean inside and out. DESCRIPTION: Frontispiece and several illustrations in each volume. The Eli Whitney Book Plate affixed inside each front cover was designed by W.F. Hopson and is dated 1903. Item weighs 30 pounds and would require extra shipping.
