VANDERBANK, woodcut scores and endpieces, contemp. unif. calf w. later giltlettered red mor. letterpiece.

- Final leaf of vol.1 (p.175) added from another copy; occas. (sl.) foxed; one stanza crossed out in vol.3 (p.48); extensive contemp. owner's entry on verso of frontisp. of first vol. monogrammed "J.G.[?]". Bindings partly restored: backstrip of 5 vols. renewed; vol. 6 rebound with use of former leather over covers; leather of 5 vols. dried and brittle and hinges strengthened.

= Rare set of over 450 comic, serious and bawdy songs, i.a. songs by G.F. Händel, H. Purcell, J.C. Pepusch, Th. Ravenscroft, Mr Galliard and Mr. Leveridge. The words are i.a. by John Gay, Alexander Pope and Shakespeare. RISM Recueils p.247. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXIII.
