December 1987, Sony DADC, sealed and unopened, black long box with label on front cover in pink "EXPLICIT LYRICS PARENTAL ADVISORY (4/2-25677)," label on back cover in pink "2-25677" and in pink on the spine "9 25677-2."

As with the LP, the CD of The Black Album was also pulled and destroyed at Prince's insistence. Apparently there are less than 10 copies of the CD still in existence, making this the rarest CD in Prince's discography.

Warner Bros. Records finally released a limited edition version of the Black Album on November 22, 1994, lacking the track "When 2R in Love," which had been released in 1988 on Lovesexy.
