Before the Blockade of Canton
1856 (11 Oct.) printed tea circular to Lyon "Via Marseilles" per steamer 'Malta', with "1/-" rate mark in red crayon and "20" applied in France with crowned "paid/at/hong-kong" in red with Marseilles transit (29.11) alongside with a good strike of the Hong Kong type 9 c.d.s. (14.10) on the flap. There is a vertical filing crease, otherwise clean and fine.
A very early letter sent from Canton after war was declared on 8th October and before the attack on Canton on 23-29 October 1856
1856年10月11日廣州經馬賽寄法國里昂的通告, 由汽船 "Malta" 遞送. 遞送費為1s. 到法國時徵收20f 費用. 並蓋有帶皇冠的紅色 "Paid/At/Hong Kong" 戳, 及旁有11月29日馬賽中轉戳. 而10月14日香港9 型日戳在封舌上. 除摺痕外, 保存良好. 自10 月 8 日宣戰後從廣州發出的一封極早期的信函, 當在 1856 年 10 月 23 日至 29 日進攻廣州之前.
