An extraordinary billing of artists that reads like a dictionary of garage rock. Them, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, featured Van Morrison on vocals and were leading lights of the genre with their version of "Gloria," a song that virtually every band had to play. Love, from Los Angeles, combined a thrilling front man, Arthur Lee, with great songwriting. The Grass Roots, also from Los Angeles, scored a few big chart hits. Of the remainder of the bill, mostly bands from the East Bay area of California, some released independent singles that are now highly collectable.
