I, frontispiece photograph of Roosevelt with tissue guard in vol. 1, photogravure from a drawing by Philip Goodwin with tissue guard in vol. II. Illustrations from photographs taken by Kermit Roosevelt and other members of the expedition, and from drawings by Philip R. Goodwin, and including a map of the route Roosevelt took through Africa. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown (Edward Laurence Doheny) and adjacent flyleaf (Carrie Estelle Doheny). 8vo, three-quarter brown leather spine and corners, tan boards, lettered in blind on the spine, printed on Ruisdael paper by the De Vinne press. The flyleaf of volume I affixed with a letter typed on White House stationary, dated November 27, 1902, addressed to the Hon.
