Very rare India ink on paper by German artist Thilo Maatsch (1900-1983) ; hand-signed and dated “28” by the artist; unique art work.
Maatsch was an advocate of abstract art, constructivism and concrete art. Early in his career he collaborated with artists such as Paul Klee, László Moholy-Nagy, William Wauer and Wassily Kandinsky at the Bauhaus.
In the 1930s, the Nazi regime determined that his art work was considered “Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art) ” and was banned, much of it destroyed, and his artistic career halted until after the War.
Condition: Excellent; it has never been framed; carefully stored over the years to protect it from light and humidity.
