£2,300
Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Officers Sword Degen with Damascus Blade by Paul Muller, interesting example of an original SS officers sword with the grip having the circular SS rune emblem badge to the centre of the grip. Plated 'D' shaped guard and un-screwable top pommel fitting. Housed in the original blackened scabbard with metal fittings. The sword blade is in a damascus steel with gilt tooled motto to the centre 'Meine Ehre heist Treue' with oakleaves. The tang is stamped with Paul Muller initials and Damast stampings. Underside of the guard with stamped SS runes acceptance stamp and acceptance stamp on the top of the scabbard throat mount. The blade measures 78cms, overall 96cms. Small chip and section of the grip missing near the SS runes emblem.
Paul Muller famously made most of the wartime damascus presentation SS swords during the Third Reich era, however some evidence is in place that he continued to make sword blades in the post war years also. This sword is being sold as seen, we would advise all potential bidders to study the photographs supplied, inspect in person or conduct any research into the period of the blade production before the auction takes place.
