Thomas Burleson began creating art after a lifetime of wrestling with undiagnosed mental issues. Late in life and untrained in fine art, Burleson began to gravitate toward self-expression through drawing. His self-discovered therapeutic art production amounted to thousands of works, which only after his death began to attract the attention of academics, gallerists and "Outsider Art" collectors.
