likely made at Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, South Carolina, circa 1850's, runny mottled tan alkaline glaze, looping iron slip swag decoration around entire shoulder, tightly turned flat rim, applied lug handles, approx 14 in. - Provenance: Collection of Dr. Joseph T. and Gaile E. Wingard, Jacksonville, Florida
Condition Report: glaze voids and anomalies as made, underglazed lower half of jar, 3/4 in. rim chip, large long stabilized hairline running around half the lower body of jar then turning up the body, going across the body for 4 in. inches, then down 5 in. to base edge and on to base, the entire hairline is evident in interior, other minor hairlines associated, some illumination under black light due to hairline stabilizations and exterior residue
