The watch was manufactured according to Thomas Dunn's patent, as can be read on the bridge of the movement. Thomas Dunn's patent for glazed cases has the following description: "Watches are formed with glass cases over the inner works to keep out the dirt, and the inner framework is so lightened that nearly the whole of the works may be seen at any time, in order to detect small particles of dirt, before they injure the works (...)". There was, after all, some space left on the intricately embellished bridges for placing the William Wood, 69 Lord Street, Liverpool and Thomas Dunns Patent signature. The rest of this remarkable movement has been reduced to its essence and any free surfaces have been intricately ornamented.
