pencil, pen and ink and grey wash on paper laid down on card, inscribed 'On back by Thomas Kerrich / By Guercino in the Collection of / Chevalier Gelosi at Turin' (Commendatore Genevosio 1719-1795) on the reverse of the card, 40.5 x 47.5 cm.

Note:
The present work is based on 'The Death of Cato' by the late Baroque painter Giovanni Battista Langetti (1625-1676), with some minor variations. Langetti's painting is held in the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
