Thomas Radclyffe, 3rd Earl of Sussex
Lord Deputy of Ireland during the Tudor period of English history (1525–1583) who was a leading courtier during the reign of Elizabeth I. Sussex also served as Lord Chamberlain of Queen Elizabeth I, negotiated the marriage for Edward VI (Henry VIII’s son & successor) and was the 1st Cousin of Queen Anne Boleyn (beheaded 2nd wife of Henry VIII). Manuscript vellum DS, signed “T. Sussex,” one page, 10.25 x 4.5, 1573. A partial and difficult-to-read accounting document listing various names. Signed in the lower left by Radclyffe, and countersigned by John Moore. In very good to fine condition, with foxing and soiling.
