Thomas Shotter Boys - An interior view of Regensburg Cathedral
Thomas Shotter Boys
An interior view of Regensburg Cathedral
Watercolour over pen and ink in brown. 33.2 x 23.5 cm.
This unsigned sheet is a characteristic work by the English watercolourist Thomas Shotter Boys. Both the delicate technique of the drawing and the subject matter and colour scheme are typical of his artistic repertoire. The London-based artist spent a large part of his life in Paris, from where he undertook a journey to Germany in 1842/1843. It is likely that this drawing was produced during that time and probably depicts an interior view of Regensburg Cathedral.
Provenance
Private collection, Germany.
