Thomas "Tad" Dorgan (1877-1929)

Thomas "Tad" Dorgan Indoor Sports Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-2-20 (International Feature Service, 1920). Dorgan depicts an office full of gossips, yacking it up over a co-worker who must travel to a family funeral. Dorgan sneaks in a Prohibition gag (Balloon 2), in the process. The dependably sarcastic feature ran under alternating titles, sometimes as Indoor Sports and sometimes as Outdoor Sports, depending upon the setting. The date of this piece is documented at 6-2, with the copyright year officially undeclared. However, an engraver's note (reverse) mentions 1920. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 12" x 8". Toning and wear commensurate with age.
