Thomas (Tom) Saunders Nash, British 1891-1963- The Flood; oil on board, 68x48cm, (ARR) Note: Nash studied at Slade School 1909-12, where he met Stanley Spencer, who has been described as a significant influence on his artwork. This artwork is a typical example of Nash’s artwork, particularly in its focus on bold, clear figuration and its religious subject matter, which in this case is the parable of the miraculous draught of fish. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy, Reading Art Gallery, Redfern Gallery, NEAC and the Goupil Gallery. His work is also in the collections of the Ashmolean Museum, Harrogate Art Gallery, Laing Art Gallery, Slade School, Brighton and Hove Museums and Art Galleries, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Manchester City Art Gallery, and the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester.
