including a birch chair with a fruitwood back, h. 35-1/4", a birch barrel-back chair with a curule leg and arm support, h. 29-1/2", both second quarter 19th century, and a Biedermeier Revival chair, ca. 1900, with an upholstered back extending to arms and a curule base, h. 30-1/4".
Notes: An apparently identical Austrian curule base chair is illustrated in Biedermeier by Angus Wilkie, figure 46.
Condition Report: All chairs are restored and polished. They are tight, sturdy and solid. The upholstery is in good condition, with some pilling to the upholstery on the maple chair. Scattered professional repairs. Insect damage to the legs of the chair with the fruitwood back.
