Additional Information: These are three outstanding views of Cincinnati:Title: Mill Creek Valley at High Water … From Mount Auburn near Cincinnati (by Archer & Co., 1870). This is a very nice view of the Mill Creek Valley north of today's downtown Cincinnati, looking west from Mount Auburn, which is situated just over one mile north of downtown.Cincinnati was rapidly developing during the mid-late 1800s being an important transportation center with fledging meat and printing businesses and seeing the start of the global powerhouse Procter & Gamble Co. Thus, this idyllic view soon was replaced by buildings and streets.Size: 5.2 X 7.2 in.Title: untitled (1854).This is a nice view of Cincinnati from a distance, capturing its panorama.Kentucky is situated in the foreground and the Ohio divides it from Ohio.The landmark Roebling Suspension Bridge is absent as it was not completed until 1866.Size: 4.4 X 6.3 in.Title: Burnet House, Cincinnati, U. S. (The Illustrated London News, 1859). This is very nice view of Burnet House.Burnet House in downtown Cincinnati, OH was designed by renowned architect Isaiah Rogers, and was boosted as “the finest hotel in the world,” by the Illustrated London News, with its 340 rooms and modern amenities like running water. On March 20, 1864, Gens. U. S. Grant and W. Sherman met on the second floor, spread out maps and made the plans for how to end the U.S. Civil War. The beginning of the end happened there.The Burnet House was torn down in 1926. Size: 6.5 X 9.4 in.
