Three Lesson Books of Otis Nixon, Framingham, Massachusetts, c. 1808-13, an "Arithmetick" book with pictorial front page depicting a man reading, above the lettering "Otis Nixon's Book,/Begun December 6th, 1808/aged 12 years and/8 months," the book covering simple and compound addition and subtraction, monies, decimals, measures, a square roots, among others; another with front page fancifully lettered "Otis Nixon's/Book, begun March 6th/MDCCCXI,/aged 15 years" with polychrome bordering, containing Geometrical Definitions, Problems, and Instruments; and another, with covered lettered "Otis Nixon's Book/Begun November 30th 1812/aged 16 years 9 months," within a polychrome pinstriped border, topics covered inside include multiplication of federal money, compound division, interest, vulgar fractions, and losses and gains; book sizes to 9 x 7 1/2 in., housed in custom clamshell boxes.
