Each figure is rendered in a muted color palette on an unglazed, off-white base. The underside of the boy with the rucksack features a blue underglaze mark consisting of the text Designed by Erich Stauffer above a symbol of two crossed arrows and the digits 8343. The underside of the boy with the hammer bears a red and gold foil adhesive label in a shield shape reading Ucagco CERAMICS JAPAN.
