Tibetan thangka depicting Amitabha, Avalokiteshvara, Padmasambhava and Heruka, c.1300, second period Nyingma school, ground mineral pigments on cotton, 16.25 x 13.25 inches, unframed. Two Buddha's, one teacher and the deity Heruka, Amitabha with typical red coloring and two attendants, four armed Avalokiteshvara with typical white coloring and two attendants, Padmasambhava with typical white coloring, three pointed hat and red robe, holding vajra, three faced Heruka (Vajrasattva) in sexual embrace with blue consort, holding vajra and bowl.
