An Early Vase
circa 1894
Favrile glass
engraved A1160 L.C.T.
11¼ in. (28.6 cm) high
Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the vase displays a transparent yellow body which is ornately decorated with iridized flourishes accentuating its double-gourd form. The luminous iridescence displays a range of blue tones from powder blue to rich cobalt, as well as silver and violet. The glass presents with occasional minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities which are inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The base of the vase with a slightly more pronounced open air bubble on the surface measuring approximately ¼ in. in diameter, which has accrued some surface residue, not visually distracting. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered, very fine and light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior of the vase with traces of light surface soiling. The underside of the vase is applied with a Doros Collection accession number. An impressive early work with dynamic decoration and form.
