Tiffany Studios "Morning Glory" Paperweight Vase
Tiffany Studios
"Morning Glory" Paperweight Vase
circa 1916
Favrile glass
engraved 8827L L.C. Tiffany-Favrile
4½ in. (11.4 cm) high
Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the vase displays a dynamic, abstract composition of morning glory blossoms amidst swirling vines. The morning glories are articulated in peach and pale pink tones with accents of pale powder blue and yellow, which contrasts beautifully with the forest green foliage. The glass presents with occasional minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities which are inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered, very fine and light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior of the vase with scattered red spotting, inherent in the sprayed application of the iridescence, and with traces of light surface soiling. The base with a factory-made aperture intentional to production. The underside of the vase is applied with a Doros Collection accession number. A wonderful example of Tiffany’s iconic “Morning Glory” motif with an impressionistic sensibility.
