[ translate ]

Tiffany Studios
Vase with "Millefiore" Base

vase circa 1900; base circa 1915
Favrile glass
vase engraved L.C.T. M7010 with the firm’s paper label
base engraved 868L L.C. Tiffany-Favrile
8⅝ in. (21.9 cm) high overall

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the vase displays an iridized cerulean blue and seafoam green palette with subtle streaks of decoration. The base is articulated in a highly complementary shade of blue with delicate white “Millefiore” flowers around the circumference. The glass presents with occasional minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities which are inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered, very fine and light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The top of the base with slightly more concentrated areas of light scratches and very minor abrasions to the glass resulting from contact with the vase, not visible when the vase is installed. The underside of the base with some very fine tooling marks, inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The interior of the vase is applied with a crackled iridescence with traces of light surface soiling. The undersides of the vase and base are each applied with a Doros Collection accession number. A highly elegant pairing with balanced proportions and cool color palette.

Provenance:
Sotheby’s New York, June 5, 1998, lot 1455
