Tiffany Studios Vase
Tiffany Studios
Vase
circa 1900
Favrile glass
engraved R830 with the firm’s paper label
14⅜ in. (36.5 cm) high
Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the vase displays a warmer and more vivid coloration than illustrated in the catalogue photography. The long neck is articulated in a creamy white with a wide iridized gold band and very subtle ribbing. The body is articulated with horizontal stripes of light brown and a whirling wave of blue and pink iridescence around the shoulder. The glass presents with occasional minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities which are inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered, very fine and light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior of the vase with traces of light surface soiling. The underside of the vase is applied with a Doros Collection accession number. An elegant work with sculptural presence.
Provenance:
John F. Coyle, Jr., Los Angeles, California
Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York, October 30, 1970, lot 124
Minna Rosenblatt, New York, 1977
