Tiffany Studios Yellow Vase
Tiffany Studios
Yellow Vase
circa 1896
Favrile glass
engraved C432
8 in. (20.3 cm) high
Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the vase displays a vibrant transparent yellow body decorated with bands of iridescent brown and gold around the shoulder and base. The neck is articulated in a more opaque amber yellow, and the elegant footed silhouette is further enhanced by the precisely cut panels around the central body. The glass presents with occasional minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities which are inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered, very fine and light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior of the vase with traces of light surface soiling. The underside of the vase is applied with a Doros Collection accession number and a secondary accession number. An elegant work with balanced proportions and bright color palette.
Provenance:
Mrs. Herbert Landick, circa 1949
Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York, May 20, 1982, lot 586
