Provenance: Property of a Southern gentleman

Other Notes: wedding gift to Edith Buckingham Hall Colgate (1872-1952) upon her marriage to Samuel Colgate, Jr. (1868-1902) the son of Samuel & Elizabeth Anne (Morse) Colgate, philanthropist and benefactor to Colgate University. She later married Rev. Henry Bradford Washburn (1869-1962), and had two sons, American explorer H. Bedford Washborn (1907-2007), and primatology pioneer Sherwood "Sherry" Washborn (1911-2000).
