Details: Titanic Collectible Newsprint NEW YORK TIMES TITANIC SHIPWRECK ISSUE APRIL 19 1912 Antique NYT Titanic Newspaper Framed Headlines Interviews Survivors

This framed copy of the New York Times is dated April 19, 1912 - just a few days after the sinking of the Titanic. The issue features some of the earliest interviews with survivors. The headline reads: "745 Saw Titanic Sink with 1,595, Her Band Playing; Exposure Kills 14 of Survivors After Rescue; Astor Went Down Waving Farewells to Bride; Mrs. Straus Stayed to Perish with Her Husband; Thousands See Carpathia Land Survivors" and the featured article is entitled "Titanic's Surviving WIreless Man Describes Wreck: Says Ship's APparatus Was Out of Order a Few Hours Before Being Hit By Iceberg - Liner Went Down by the Head as Band Changed from Rag Time Tune to 'Autumn' - Severe Criticism of Operators on Scout Cruisers."

The issue is behind glass in a frame measuring approximately 24.25" x 30".

Condition / Notes: This piece of newsprint shows some typical indications of age and wear including some light toning and minor marginal chipping. Some repairs have been made with tape on the fold and some holes remain visible. There is tape in a few other spots to mend partial tears. The issue has not been examined outside of its frame.
