Tlatilco Pottery Standing Pretty Lady Figure

Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Tlatilco culture, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A hand-built female figure known as a "pretty lady" standing nude atop nubbin feet and ample thighs. Her feminine form features a corseted waistline, slender arms that hang from rounded shoulders, and a broad neckline. Her slightly enlarged head leans forward and exhibits impressed eyes and mouth, a perky nose, and a cap adorned with a red-painted petaloid motif. Size: 1.375" W x 3.7" H (3.5 cm x 9.4 cm); 4.625" H (11.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

Condition Report: Repair to head at neckline as well as repair and restoration to proper left arm, with resurfacing and light overpainting along new material and break lines. Minor nicks to limbs and body, with fading to pigment in scattered areas, and light encrustations. Nice preservation to overall feminine form.
