Unique vase. Porcelain. Glossy glaze, gradient from dark violet to light luminous blue from base to mouth. H. 23.5 cm. Marked on the bottom with workshop mark: lotus leaf/blossom (embossed stamp) with dark red brush signature. With original Tomobako wooden box, on the lid with inscription and seal.
Tokuda Yasokichi III (1933 - 2009) was one of the most important modern Japanese ceramists. In 1997 he was honored with the National Living Treasure award in Japan. His works can be found in numerous international museum collections, such as the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London or the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
