[ translate ]

Tom McKimson Bugs Bunny Two Unpublished Stories Preliminary Drawings Original Art plus Comic Books Group of 4 (Whitman, 1980-81). Tom McKimson (1907 – 1998) worked in animation before he became a comic book artist for Western Publishing (under the imprints Dell, Gold Key, and Whitman), specializing in Looney Tunes characters like that "waskally wabbit" Bugs Bunny. Tom, older brother of famous Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies animator/director Robert McKimson, created the preliminary layout drawings for the two Bugs Bunny stories in this group. The stories were ultimately not used, making these layouts exceedingly rare. Intended for Bugs Bunny #223 comes "Flying Low" featuring Elmer Fudd (four pages; page two has an extension taped to the top edge that has become ragged). Intended for Bugs Bunny #232 is "Food Feud" co-starring Daffy Duck (five pages). The first story is drawn in color markers on onionskin paper; the second is in color markers on lightweight white paper. The paper for both stories measures approximately 14" x 19" with an image area of approximately 12.5" x 17.75", and each is initialed by Tom in the upper left border. Each story is stapled together at the top left corner. The published comic books are included so you can see what took these story's places. The "Flying Low" art is in Poor to Fair condition with handling, edge wear with torn areas, and age-related paper toning; "Food Feud" is in Good to Very Good condition with minor handling wear.
