Ton Schulten. (Ootmarsum, April 25, 1938) .
Ton Schulten was born as the son of a baker in Ootmarsum and grew up in a Catholic middle-class family with six children. From 1956 he attended the Academy for Art and Industry in Enschede, where he graduated cum laude in 1962 as a graphic designer and designer. After making a career in the advertising world, Schulten decided in 1989 to devote himself entirely to painting. In 1992 he discovered the Twente scenic landscape as a source of inspiration, after which his work became more figurative. In 2004, Ton Schulten's somewhat expressionistic painting style received a certain degree of recognition, when his characteristic style was called consensism by art critic Hartmut Rau in a monograph on Schulten.

Schulten works in his birthplace Ootmarsum, where 'Museum Ton Schulten' is also located, which offers an overview of his work.

Inspiration “The power of color and light”.
The color, the glow and shine, the shape. The emotion and experience. That is the world of Ton Schulten. Or perhaps: the world according to Ton Schulten. Get to know that world. A world full of emotion and enchantment. No one misses the mysterious power of the impressive work of Ton Schulten, the simple baker's son from Ootmarsum. His work, now known worldwide, enchants the viewer.
Shapes, colors and heavenly compositions that offer tranquility. Impressive and sometimes even hypnotic. Emotional and above all so beautiful in composition that no one can escape the powerful and mysterious appearance. Ton Schulten's work is warming and of inimitable beauty.
