Victorian Dressing Case/Vanity Box, Toulmin & Gale, London - Coromandel, Silver - circa 1868 England. Absolutely beautiful Victorian dressing table or rather Dressing Case or Vanity Box, 19th century. As you can see the outside of the box is still in neat condition and of a very expensive and beautiful wood species dat is only used for the best items. It has a brass engraved plate at the top. Inside, the box is fully equipped with 10 glass bottles and jars, all with matching engraved silver lids. The silver is hallmarked. The three fragrance bottles even have their original glass toppers under the silver lids, the lids that could still use a little love from the silversmith. It is not noticeable, but one of the small bottles is not original. In the middle of the box is a set of accessories, some with matching mother of pearl handles. Under the lid is a mirror, which is detached by means of a closure, with a letter box behind it for storing important documents. There is also the retailer's original label; "Toulmin & Gale London". At the backside of the box, between the hinges, there is a small button that releases a drawer in the bottom of the box. Lined with satin and velvet, is used for storing jewellery and there is a compartment for rings and also a watch. Dimensions: 180×230×300 mm Every aspect of the box is of quality.
