Tourmaline Slice Malkhan pegmatite field, Krasnyi Chikoy, Krasnochikoysky District, Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia 6.7 x 6.1 x 0.3 cm (2.64 x 2.40 x 0.12 in) This gemmy slice of Elbaite from the famous Malkhan pegmatite field weighs 30.1 grams and measures 0.3 centimeters thick. The crystal displays a vibrant golden-yellow interior bordered by delicate light pink zoning around its outer edge. Portions of the interior are water-clear, while thin, milky veils create a subtle web-like pattern that adds depth to the crystal. Backlighting dramatically enhances the Elbaite's transparency, illuminating the crystal's vivid color zoning and delicate internal veils. From the collection of John Warn [RUS1778a]. Ex.
