Toyota - MR2 - 1992

[ translate ]

The second-generation MR2 (the SW20/21) is one of Toyota's most beloved cars of all time. Mid-engine, Rear-wheel drive, two-seater.

This beautiful example has a 3S-GE hanging between the axles. The 3S-GE is a 2L in-line 4-cylinder. Equipped with Toyota's Twin-Cam (dual overhead camshafts) technology with 16 valves, this engine produces 156 hp. The TC technology provides roaring driving pleasure but also offers fuel economy on normal journeys.

In its 10 years of production, the SW20 has received five updates from the factory. Of those, the second update (12/1991 to 11/1993) was technically the most important. Due to the MR2's infamous 'snap oversteer' that sometimes wrecked inexperienced drivers, Toyota made many changes to the suspension:
- Redesigned suspension geometry gave the MR2 reliable handling
- Stiffer stabiliser bars and wishbones
- Tyres were widened (195 front / 225 rear) and the diameter increased to 15 inches to fit the larger front and rear brakes.
- Optically, the 2nd revision received a deeper front bumper and
- Finally, the shift lever was shortened in length and 'throw' and the synchromesh rings were improved (synchronisers) resulting in a much sportier driving feel.

The above changes were applied to models with chassis numbers 0059266 to 0087385.
This MR2 with chassis number _0061229 drove out of the factory on 12 March 1992, so the above (important) modifications are standard on this car.

The MR2 drives great, shifts wonderfully and looks great. The T-Bar provides a lovely open driving feeling, without sacrificing the rigid bodywork one experiences with a convertible. Original frame with light covers and original leather cover for the roof panels.

Restoration work has been carried out on the subframe. New original Toyota parts have been installed such as support arms, bushings for the stabiliser bar, exhaust gaskets, bolts for support arms (subframe) , new door mats, and a new battery. The engine oil was changed along with the (special) oil filter. The car has been squarely aligned after repairs. The car has been clay barred and protected by a new coat of wax.

In short: Ready to get in and drive away.

The car comes with a new MOT.
