Circular vase with wicker basket decoration Near East Early Bronze Age, c. 3th millennium BC. Height 5. 4 cm; Diameter 11 cm Gray Chlorite CONDITION: Good se photos, not restored. PROVENANCE: Private collection, California (USA) . Former collection of an English Lord, formed in the years 1980 - 1990. DOCUMENTS: Provided of export license issued by the Ministy of Culture. DESCRIPTION: Circular shaped vase with horizontal base and flat bottom made using the incisions technique for the exterior decoration that presents and emptied from the arc drilling technique with a stone harder than chlorite and grains of sand for erosion circular inside the glass. This technique is noticeable inside where concentric circular lines appear at the bottom of the glass. This object is typical in artistic chlorite productions made in eastern Iran in the 4th millennium BC. Chlorite quarries have been found in Kerman province. Chlorite is a soft, green stone that is easy to work with. Objects made of this material were luxury items. The artisans were semi-nomadic Iranian sculptors. A number of their workshops were found at Tepe Yahya in southeastern Iran, where chlorite quarries have been discovered.
