Translated Egyptian Faience Ushabti for Pa-Di-Aset

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th Dynasty, ca. 664 to 525 BCE. A beautiful and sizable example of a faience funerary ushabti covered in turquoise-hued glaze. The mummiform figure stands atop an integral trapezoidal plinth with its body expanding gradually upwards, holds a pick and hoe in hands crossed tightly atop the chest, and has a seed bag displayed behind the left shoulder. The stylized face bears a pair of almond-shaped eyes with elongated outer canthi, a broad nose, full lips with indented corners, perforated ears, and a plaited false beard, all framed within the lappets of a tripartite wig. A column of hieroglyphs inscribed in front of the legs reads, "Osiris, Pa-di-aset, born to Aset-iti." Size: 1.4" W x 6.125" H (3.6 cm x 15.6 cm)

Condition Report: Well executed repair to feet at ankles with light overpainting along break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks to body, head, and hieroglyphs, with fading to original glaze pigment, and softening to some finer details and hieroglyphs. Nice remains of original glaze throughout, and hieroglyphs are still legible.
