Travel Poster Paris National Railways

Original vintage travel poster for Paris, France, published by the French National Railroads. This extraordinary painting is by well known French artist Bernard Buffet (1928-1999), a painter of Expressionism and a member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Témoin (the Witness-Man). The oil painting features a side view of the iconic Cathedral of Notre Dame, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country and city, as well as a fine example of French Gothic architecture. The painting is made with expressive brushstrokes with the cathedral behind a small river bridge and against a light blue sky background. Very good condition, creasing, light browning.
