Sarat Chandra Das was an Indian scholar of Tibetan culture and language noted for his two journeys to Tibet in 1879 and in 1881-1882. This book deals mostly with his second journey, when he made surveys east and west of Tashilunpo, of the Yarlung Valley and Lake Yamdo Tse. Bookplate of McGill University, pocket at rear endpapers,, presentation plate from the Royal Geographical Society with RGS complementary engraved note tipped in, eradicated spine number, withdrawn rubberstamps to front & rear endpapers, rubberstamps on edges of text block.
Condition Report: Wear to spine ends and corners, contents shaken, on map with neat repairs at a few folds; good to very good, scarce.
