Trio of Ancient Northern Peruvian Textile Fragments
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Huari (Wari), ca. 500 to 800 CE; Chimu, ca. 700 to 1470 CE; Chancay, ca. 1300 to 1450 CE. Three wonderful textiles comprised of tightly-woven fibers in hues of crimson, wheat, caramel, toffee, espresso, citrine, and cream. First, a colorful red-and-orange Huari panel of woven camelid fibers displays ten distinct squares of abstract geometric motifs. Second is a Chimu child's tunic made from natural fibers in a vertical striped pattern of brown and white bands with a frilled lower periphery; the central slit is meant for a child's head to go through. Finally, a brown-and-beige Chancay panel is comprised of natural fibers with a multi-colored stepped pattern on most of the body and an upper register of light- and dark-orange horizontal stripes. A fantastic ensemble! Size of largest (Chancay): 31.5" L (80 cm).
