Triumph - Spitfire 1500 - 1977

[ translate ]

The Triumph Spitfire was introduced in 1962 and is designed by famous Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. In 1970, the design was revised by Michelotti resulting in the MKIV and later the 1500. In the new design, special attention was paid to the convertible top construction making it easy to handle. Also the rear axle was redesigned which improved handling and of course the powerful 1500 cc engine was introduced. With this, the Spitfire 1500 finally became the car Triumph had envisioned from the start: powerful and sporty handling within an attractive body. The Spitfire that is offered here rolled out the Coventry factory in 1977 and has had 3 Dutch owners up until now. The Spitfire is damage-free and rust-free. The paintwork is in good condition and free from scratches and dents. The interior is neat and complete. Of course, as one may expect from a car at this age, there is some slight patina but overall this Spitfire is very neat and complete. The fuel system has recently been addressed; new lines, fuel pump and revised dual-carburettors (SU) . Thanks to the stainless steel dual-exhaust, this Spitfire produces a powerful sound with sporty performance. The car shifts, steers and brakes as one might expect from such a car and invites you to go on nice tours wearing a big smile. The seats could some new padding, which can be arranged upon agreement. And another thing to improve is the convertible top which was repaired by use of a patch, yet is still fully functional. The Spitfire is also fitted with some extras. For example, it has a luggage rack to which a picnic basket or suitcase can be fastened. It also comes with a tonneau cover and an additional roadster cover for the sporty driver who wants to cover the interior partly or entirely. Also, the original jack with cover is still present. The car has a valid APK (Dutch periodic vehicle inspection) which is valid until 28-06-2022. The car is in Heerhugowaard, The Netherlands. It is recommended to view the car prior to placing a bid in order to prevent disappointment afterwards. Please contact Catawiki to schedule an appointment.
